Being in a blended family presents a totally different set of challenges than a traditional family. Aside from logistics and finances, there are usually emotional issues to overcome. Blended families are formed because a previous family unit has broken apart. Divorce and separation represents the death of an original family and it must be grieved. Many times the biological parents face problems transitioning into two separate households. The introduction of stepparents causes anxiety and friction. And the kids are caught in the middle.
