Matt Barnes Awarded SOLE Custody of Twins With Gloria Govan
We all saw it coming #Fam! There has finally been a judgment in the Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan saga. The divorcees have had a very messy public battle as they’ve unraveled their marriage in majorly terrible ways. Since their split, the former lovebirds have physically and emotionally tussled over everything from custody to embezzlement allegations. Today, a judge awarded sole physical and legal custody of the twin boys Govan and Barnes share to the father, Matt Barnes.
During Thursday’s hearing, the judge ruled Gloria will get regular visitation — including every other weekend from Friday until Monday morning. She is also allowed to have dinner with the kids every Wednesday evening.
Matt got an 18-month restraining order against Gloria. He claims that she’s a threat to him and she must stay away from Matt until May 2020.
The two are still working out the custody arrangements for the holidays including Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years.
As part of Thursday’s hearing, the judge also ordered Govan to complete 26 sessions of anger management and 10 parenting classes.
Matt was accompanied in court by his attorney Samantha Spector.
TMZ previously reported, Gloria was arrested the Friday before Labor Day after Matt claimed she put the lives of their twin boys at risk by allegedly flying into a rage in her car, blocking Matt and the kids from driving away from their school. It was determined that Gloria was impeding on Matt’s parenting time.
Gloria denied the allegations and ultimately prosecutors declined to press forward with criminal charges.
Head Coach for the NY Knicks, and Barnes former teammate, Derek Fisher made his presence known in court when he made an appearance to support his fiancée Gloria Govan as she continues to battle Matt Barnes in court. Witnesses say that he stood tall and looked proud. He did not acknowledge Barnes and he was asked to wait outside the courtroom during proceedings.

“Barnes said in a signed affidavit that he was attempting to guide one of the boys out of Govan’s Cadillac SUV when she “aggressively jerked the car in reverse,” causing the boy to fall back onto his seat.”
“He claimed Govan continued to reverse the vehicle after the child exited the Escalade, causing a heavy door to slam against the boy’s shoulder.”
“Barnes said after he walked both boys back to his vehicle, Govan barreled toward him ‘at an excessively high rate of speed through the school parking lot’ to block his exit.”
No one knows who is the most fit parent in this horrible case, but we hope that these conflicted parents come together for the sake of these boys. We doubt that this will be last we’ve heard of this saga.
