Father’s are supposed to protect their little ones from all the scary, physical and emotional dangers of the world. So what’s a mom to do when the man she created a new life with turns out to be the first person who breaks her child’s heart? With so many shining examples of great fathers everywhere it’s hard to fathom that you’d be the one who ended up with the bad guy. You’re probably asking yourself, “Why me?”
Don’t be too hard on yourself or question your choices. You’re not a soothsayer. It’s not like these type of men walks around with shirts that say “I’m a jerk,” on it. Women have to rely solely on their intuition and judgment, which can often be skewed by a handsome face, romantic gestures, and empty promises. You’d be hard pressed to find a woman who hasn’t come across an asshole or two in her lifetime.
The hard part is dealing with one after you’ve created a child together. It can literally be a nightmare trying to coparent with a jerk or as the experts call them, “high conflict, or toxic coparent”.
He could have been the kind of man who initially took your breath away and as you looked into his eyes you saw your self growing old with him. Later you discover he’s selfish, immature, rude, or worse, has a completely different parenting style than you.
